Understanding Septic Systems Inspection Basics for Building Inspectors
Course Description:
This course provides building inspectors with a practical overview of residential septic systems, focusing on system components, basic operation, and common warning signs of failure. Participants will learn inspection limitations, safety considerations, and when to recommend further evaluation by a licensed septic professional. The class also emphasizes accurate reporting and clear client communication to help inspectors manage risk and provide informed guidance.
About the Instructor:
Kurt Grassett
Kurt is the Owner/General Manager of Norway Hill Home Inspections. He has been in the Home Inspection industry for 5 years. In this role, Kurt looks at all aspects of a Home Inspection business. This includes conducting all the services we provide, training new apprentices, and helping the other inspectors on and off the job site in any way he can.
Kurt is a Licensed Home Inspector in both New Hampshire and Vermont. He also is licensed to conduct septic evaluations and is certified as a structural mold investigator.
Kurt is no stranger to Home Inspecting having achieved the industry’s highest certification, The International Association of Certified Home Inspectors, Certified Master Inspector (CMI) designation.
Before starting Norway Hill Home Inspections 5 years ago, Kurt spent 30 years in Public Works and 25 years as a call fireman.
